A week at Hume Lake
I don't know about you guys but I've been having a great summer. I've been working on Camp Harlow for four summers, it's been amazing! For the past two summers I've gone down to a camp in Northern California called, Hume Lake Christian Camps. I just got back last night, and once again it was amazing. The theme was "Ay Ay Cap'n", the whole week we looked at Peter's life following Jesus. The way that the speaker talked about the story was different than anyone in my cabin has heard it. The story that's well known as "Jesus walked on water" is now known as the story of Jesus is stepping on the face of our storms for those who went last week. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God never leaves us, even if we're having the best day ever. When we lose faith in Him, that's when we fell. Peter took his eyes of off his Captain, but then he looked back to Him. The point of the theme was making God the Captain of our lives, having faith and trusting that He will lead you where he wants you to go. One of my favorite country singers has a song called Flashlight and it talks about this light that's showing you where to go. It's a perfect example of God. The hardest part is following the light. So often we want to do stuff on our own but we need God to lead us. Make God your Captain and follow Him. (I started writing this about four weeks ago and I just now finished it.)
